My school is looking forward to Literacy Week next week. One of the fun activities the students will be doing is making words out of 'Reading is Fun.'
This is a wonderful activity to CHALLENGE your middle school students during Read Across America / Literacy Week... or anytime. This Dr. Seuss themed activity will challenge them to find 25 words made by the letters (reading is fun) - BUT - will they be able to come up with the ONLY WORD made by 11 of the 12 letters??? 1089 words are possible, and many of them are provided for your reference. You can find the activity HERE if you want to do it with your own child or classroom: Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!

![]() Literacy Week (March 2-6) is a favorite time of the year! My school spends the entire week celebrating Dr. Seuss, the love of learning... and we READ READ READ all week as well as doing FUN literacy activities. One of my favorite lesson plans is on TPT... It is called "The Film of Life" - Students have 22 movie frames to fill in with wonderful (and maybe not so wonderful) memories like losing a tooth, going on an airplane ride, winning an award, playing a sport, etc. All of these experiences have made them the person they are today. Then they get to think about WHERE they are going... (Oh, The Places You'll Go!) and creatively place those in the last four frames. The lesson includes a 16-page student instruction PowerPoint with examples, a Film of Life and Template, and Teacher Instructions. You can find it HERE! Enjoy Literacy Week and Read Read Read!!! ![]() February is BLACK HISTORY MONTH. Celebrate the achievements of African Americans by having your students research and create a FUN interactive fan.
